The great civilizations of Asia – Japan, China, and India – have been responsible for numerous contributions to civilizations worldwide. In just religions alone, those such as Shintoism, Daoism, Confucianism, Buddhism, and Hinduism call Asia home, but are major world religions. In the United States, Asian immigrants are one of the fastest growing populations. With all of its religions, cultures, and traditions, Asia makes up approximately 60% of the entire population of the world.
With technology assisting them, today’s Asian studies teachers can, right from the classroom, take their students on study tours, teach Asian literature in workshops, virtually attend Asia seminars, take a walk through the geography and history of Asia, explore live-broadcast stories of Asia, and so much more. Without ever having to step outside the walls of the classroom, these things can now become reality.
