As many teachers already know, literature classes are underestimated by many who feel that literature itself simply isn’t a vital class or useful in today’s busy world. But they are underestimating the ability of literature to bestow upon each of us great knowledge which will stand the test of time. Concentrating on math and science alone will not make everyone a successful contributing member of society. Art and literature encourage passion. And passion is necessary in order to fully appreciate (and excel in) life.
Combining technology with literature will help expand the horizons of students and teachers, help students address humanity, develop better writing skills, appreciate other beliefs and cultures, and build critical thinking skills. Literature is necessary. It is important. It provides us with an opportunity to think outside the box, strengthens our minds, and encourages growth.
