Visual arts are a huge part of today’s society. Neglecting to instruct our students in the use of and appreciation for visual arts is the same as failing to prepare them for today’s society in general. And that is a major role of our instructional institutions – to prepare our children for the world in which we live so that they can become productive, well-balanced, contributing adults.
It may be more important today than ever before that our children have a forum for historical and cultural understanding, imagination, exploration, communication, and safe self-expression. To ensure the continued existence of the fine arts, we must learn how to utilize today’s technologies in the instruction of music, graphic arts, instrumental music, and visual arts.
