Instrumental music is a common subject under the fine arts program in schools today. That’s important because fine arts are crucial to our society. They help form young minds and develop steady temperaments. The arts, and instrumental music specifically, may use such skills as reading, writing, and arithmetic, but additionally, develop fine motor skills and hand/eye coordination.
Teaching instrumental music to our children not only prepares them to appreciate music or help them discover special interests in learning different instruments, but helps them form the basis upon which to build a well adjusted, responsible, contributing adult member of society.
