| Description, Learning Objective: | 1) To introduce students to basic geographical make-up of Egypt 2) To provide exposure to various maps of Ancient Egypt 3) To teach and allow students to browse independently through a site with the intention of completing a worksheet on site info | |
| Procedure: | PATH:IKeep--Social Studies--Ancient Cultures--Ancient Egypt--Ancient Egypt-British Museum--Geography Teacher directs students to site. Students will need to explore the first page of the site, the "Story" page, and the "Explore" page (maps) to complete the sheet. Teacher explains that students will have to explore site independently to complete the sheet; "explore independently" means that they click on each section of the site, read through it independently, and read and complete the interactive 'game' in the "Story" section. Teacher models exploration for students by reading first page of site with students, asking them to click on the blue highlighted words ('silt,' 'barren,' etc.), reminding them that they should move the mouse over the pages as they explore in order to learn (teach themselves) about the country's geography. Teacher should then hand out the sheet, and do #s 1 and 2 with the class. Students should be able to complete the remainder of the sheet independently. Teacher should be sure that students' answers are all correct; encourage the students to reread the site if/when necessary. |
